Whether you’re dealing with a common concern or a more complex skin condition, we provide personalised care and effective treatment options. Below is an overview of some of the most common skin conditions we treat in the practice.
Actinic keratoses are scaly lesions that appear on sun-exposed skin and have the potential to develop into skin cancer called squamous cell carcinoma. Regular skin checks are crucial for early detection and treatment of these and other skin cancers, such as basal cell carcinoma.
Early intervention is important to ensure that any concerning lesions are quickly and effectively treated.
Common moles are also known as melanocytic nevi. They commonly increase in number over the first three decades of life and with sun exposure.
Melanoma is a severe and potentially dangerous form of skin cancer. An increased number of moles is a risk factor for melanoma, furthermore, melanoma may arise within a pre-existing mole.

One half of the mole does not match the other.

The edges are mostly irregular.

Color variation within the mole.

The lesion is larger than 6mm.

The mole is changing in colour, shape or size.
Regular mole checks are advised especially if you have a family history of melanoma or noticed any one of the above changes in a skin lesion.
Psoriasis is a chronic condition that occurs in genetically predisposed individuals who are exposed to environmental triggers such as stress, medications and infections. It can be a debilitating disease that affects skin, nails and joints. There are many types of treatments available such as creams, phototherapy and medications. There are many new targeted therapies/biologics that treat psoriasis offering patients a greatly improved quality of life.
During pregnancy, a woman’s skin often undergoes various changes due to the influx of hormones. These may include hyperpigmentation (Melasma), oily or dry skin, stretchmarks (striae gravidarum) and increased hair growth (hirsutism). Pregnancy may also influence preexisting skin conditions such as acne, eczema and psoriasis. There are also pregnancy-specific skin conditions that may present with severe itch and different types of skin lesions from small bumps (papules) to urticarial plaques or blisters.
While pregnancy is a beautiful time, mothers-to-be are often left feeling not themselves because of these skin conditions. With the right attention, we can address these skin concerns with pregnancy-safe treatment options.
